About Us
ISOM Company is a commercial real estate development and consulting firm. We bring particular depth to four industrial verticals—speculative industrial, data center and powered land, manufacturing build-to-suit, and logistics—and manage the full lifecycle of each, from site selection and entitlements through capital formation and construction.

We believe we develop more than buildings. We build the relationships, infrastructure, and places that create lasting value for our partners and the communities where we work.
Firm Leadership
ISOM is a platform built around the three functions that move large-scale real estate projects — developing them, funding them, and clearing the public path to get them done. Its leadership operates from three offices by design: Kansas City, Miami, and Washington, DC, aligning development, capital, and government affairs across the markets where ISOM works.
James Isom
Founder & President
James Isom is the founder of ISOM Company, which he has built into a commercial real estate development and consulting platform active across the United States. Earlier in his career, at previous firms, James built a track record spanning North America and international markets, giving him a global perspective he now brings to ISOM's projects. He has led more than $2.8 billion in projects and transactions spanning acquisition, development, redevelopment, and disposition across a range of asset classes, structuring the creative capital solutions — drawn from deep relationships with financial institutions, public agencies, and private investors — that bring complex, large-scale projects to life.

James has developed some of the central region's most significant industrial projects, including rail-served, build-to-suit manufacturing facilities at the Port of Little Rock that brought global manufacturers to the US market for the first time, alongside the speculative industrial and flex developments that make up a growing share of ISOM's pipeline today. He leads ISOM by a principle that has defined the firm since its founding: collaboration over ego, and a relentless focus on delivering every project on time, on budget, and in a way that creates lasting value for partners and the communities ISOM serves.

Andy Talbert
Head of Real Estate
Andy Talbert leads ISOM Company's real estate platform, originating and structuring the firm's industrial development pipeline from site selection and land acquisition through capital formation and disposition. His work spans all four of ISOM's industrial verticals — speculative industrial, powered land for data centers, build-to-suit manufacturing, and logistics — and he engineers the capital structures that bring each to market. He brings deep relationships with institutional investors and family offices to every transaction, designing deals that align partners and unlock value where execution is hardest.

Over nearly two decades, Andy has built and scaled development platforms across the central United States, working at the convergence of energy, infrastructure, and real estate. He has led capital formation and investor relations with institutional partners and family offices, originated complex land and entitlement transactions, and structured ground-up projects spanning multiple asset classes — the breadth that now underwrites ISOM's growing speculative industrial pipeline alongside its larger build-to-suit and powered land projects.

Ethan Dursteler
Head of Government Affairs
Ethan Dursteler leads ISOM Company's government affairs function, managing the firm's relationships with municipalities, economic development authorities, ports, and public agencies that are central to large-scale industrial development. He guides projects through entitlements, incentive negotiations, and the public-private partnerships that bring infrastructure-intensive sites to market, and has worked on economic development projects across a range of markets and jurisdictions.

Ethan's career spans public policy and government affairs, including a coordinator role with the National Football League and legislative staff work in the U.S. House of Representatives. He is central to ISOM's build-to-suit strategy, helping foreign manufacturers establish their first US operations — a process that pairs site selection and incentives with the cross-cultural fluency to earn a partner's trust. Having lived in Korea for several years, Ethan speaks Korean and brings a direct line into one of the most active sources of inbound industrial investment.

Mark Peterson
Head of Acquisitions
Mark Peterson leads acquisitions for ISOM Company, sourcing, underwriting, and evaluating the land and development opportunities that feed the firm’s industrial pipeline. He has spent his career at the intersection of institutional capital and real estate development, advising and partnering with investors across the full spectrum — from the largest private equity firms and national homebuilders to regional and local developers — to evaluate projects and shape strategy. That vantage gave him a pattern-recognition edge: a clear view of what works, where others have stumbled, and where the next opportunities lie.

Mark has held acquisitions and advisory leadership roles at national real estate investment and brokerage platforms, served on an investment committee, and built the builder, developer, and capital relationships that source and close deals. A former practicing attorney, Mark brings legal discipline to diligence, deal structuring, and negotiation.
